It’s been a bit since we dipped our hands into the mailbag. Actually, that’s not true, usually our hands are wet so we smear the ink on the letter or postcard so we can’t read it, but today we dried them first.

Every morning with my coffee I do a crossword puzzle or two. Sometimes they have a particular theme which hints at the answers. I was wondering if you know of a crossword puzzle featuring the beerfloat?

After reading this praiseful and curious note I did a bit of a search for crosswords which delve thematically into ‘the realm of water flotation with a favourite quaff.’ I found zippo! Nil. Nothing.
I did locate a couple with ‘water’ as a theme and one based on ‘beer’ but nada which combines the two.
Not one to ignore a deeper dive, I continued a hopeful search with no results for an existing crossword dealing with our pleasure principle - with one exception. I discovered it is possible to create your own crossword puzzle. Thusly, inspired by Glenn’s question, the staff and I put together -
Are you game?
Before you start, I should point out that although I was eager to make this happen, I’m still a lazy bum, so don’t expect a twenty-five-by-twenty-five perfect cryptic grid. This is a slap it together, have some fun, a bit of a lark to make a simple cheesy blog kinda crossword – but it is - all about beerfloating!
Also, I recommend doing it on a laptop or desktop because the size of the grid on a smartphone is just too small, although it can be done.

Fill in the letter boxes and when you move to another word your previously answered letters will either appear ‘green’ if correct or ‘red’ if wrong.
Many answers should be quite obvious but if not read through the beerfloat.calm website and other blog pages for helpful hints.
We are also displaying the whole crossword with clues below which you can copy and print so you can fill it out ‘old school’ style. More importantly however this provides an opportunity to enlarge it, fill in the answers with gold ink, cover it with a protective layer, then frame and finally hang on your most prominent display wall for all to see. That’s what I did.
So, without further ado, we present…
For those who have forsaken seeking hints within our website you can stand on your head to read the answers below. Alternatively, change the setting on your phone so it doesn’t auto rotate your page content then flip your phone upside down. A third option is a set of odd numbered mirrors which reflect each other tracing back to these upside-down crossword solutions.
