Let’s talk about June Osborne.

You know the Handmaid who starts all the trouble and eventual down fall of Gilead. That June Osborne. Well, she doesn’t actually bug me, I just wanted to get your attention.

Now, on to the real rant.

In Canada June is National Indigenous History Month, June is also Pride Month and Italian, Portuguese and Filipino Heritage months.

What does this mean? For the other 11 months they are not proud. Should we diss them as soon as July starts?

Why does everyone and everything need a month or day? Shouldn’t we celebrate everything, everyday? Should you ignore your mother for 364 days every year?

The LGBTQ or as I have heard myself say in the past, the Alphabet Community certainly deserve to be recognized but why do they only get 30 days. I guess I’ll need to amend this now that the inclusiveness includes so many other groups, now often listed as 2SLGBTQIA+. Humans only remember 7 consecutive digits easily. By adding numbers and math symbols I think it’s best to just say the +community.

I’m not trying to belittle these folks; it’s just that in recent times they seem to be getting an overwhelming proportion of attention.

Really, what percentage of the population is 2S or 2 Spirit?

Trans(T) gets a lot more headlines than far less than 1% of the worlds population deserve.

Oops, I just realized I better not say +community because I might upset people with larger bodies which is a much larger portion of the population. As of 2022 the World Health Organization’s findings list 43% of the worlds population as overweight and 16% as obese and the numbers are even bigger in North America. Those groups certainly deserve more attention (and less food - and for that matter flotation devices with strong seams and bigger tubes which hold more air).

Anyway, now that I’ve pissed off half the world, you can all, that includes all the fatties and alpha+ folks, and the Italians, Filipinos and Portuguese, and Handmaids, join me in proudly saying that everyday is hence forth, Beer Float Day!
